India gets its first underwater restaurant, in Ahmedabad. Bharat Bhatt, Ahmedabad based businessman opened India's first underwater restaurant called 'The Real Poseidon'. The restaurant was made public on February 1, 2016 but within four days it has been officially sealed by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) as no permission was sought out to them.
According to TOI, the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of AMC said, "The restaurant will be issued a notice and we will seal it because it has not sought the mandatory development permission. The seal will remain in place until it seeks the necessary approvals needed under town planning rules. We will not allow it to operate otherwise."
However, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services say no permission has been taken from them. Chief Fire Officer M F Dastur told Mirror, " We have not given any permission to the restaurant. It needs to have permission from the department for fire in case of emergencies like flooding of water and emergency exits.
The Real Poseidon provides a unique dining experience, 20 feet below the ground level. The multi-cuisine restaurant is a 32 seated restaurant and it offered vegetarian food in cuisines like Thai, Chinese, Mexican, Punjabi etc. The restaurant features about 4,000 fish and marine species on 3,000 sq ft property and has been filled with 1,50,000 litres of water. The restaurant has already received about 150 bookings via online, print and radio promotions.
